How often do I not try to get”things done” by being pro-active, pushing forward? I became the “getter” and “fixer”. Had to. After the collapse of the Soviet when all the food was gone from the shelves of food stores and a pay check from the employer did not guarantee one could get a meal, sitting and waiting was not something that would help one fill the stomach in the end of the day.
Last night I was supposed to get a visit from an old friend that was in town and I had little time to improvise in terms of supplements to what they call in Sweden “fika” (a little get together for a cup of tea or coffee): no cookies or cakes at home. In the end, I didn’t get anything, just headed home after work. A neat package was expecting me at home from someone I had made a tiny favor to a while ago. The package contained a box of handmade orange truffles glazed with dark chocolate, from the local chocolate factory. The issue of something to go with tea got resolved and I didn’t have to move a finger! It was an appreciated and timely reminder of how letting go of the worries and trying to get things done by spinning around can bring us exactly what we were looking for. All I needed was some faith.
