I am going for an interview and in the confirmation e-mail the recruiter calls it förutsättningslös (Swe). Swedish has a lot of long words that make the tongue twist like a snake but I like the taste of this one. There is hope in it. Without conditions, prerequisites. Unbiased, unprejudiced.
A good way to start any encounter, no matter how many times we have met someone, one or fifty. It is easier for the very first time, like at an interview but the second time inevitably brings with it expectations and prejudices, robbing us or another person of a new, fresh start, giving the impression that we know. We don’t see what or who actually is there, we live in the moment by the impressions and memories we took with us from our previous encounters. Isn’t it scary?
Sometimes memory is a burden…
I want to learn to meet myself this way – förutsättningslöst – every morning and carry it with me through the day.
